They read from the Book of the Law of God and clearly explained the meaning of what was being read, helping the people understand each passage. Nehemiah 8:8

At the age of five, my son asked me if we could read the book of Exodus together. I said sure, but I was prepared not to finish. We did it, though. And I was struck not only by his endurance but also by his thoughts and observations. No, he didn't use the language of a theologian, but he was clearly growing in his understanding of God...his nature, his priorities, and his will for us.

Children can go deep and wide into God's Word, but like all of us, they benefit from others who are willing to read alongside them and help them understand. And the understanding we can lead them toward is not just knowing the words on the page but knowing God through HIS words on the page. The more they read...the more we read...the more scripture flows through our lives, the more all of us get to know him and love him.
